Irrfan Khan was one of the most gifted and internationally acclaimed actors of his generation — an artist who bridged Bollywood and Hollywood with rare grace and intelligence.
Born Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan in Jaipur in 1967, he trained at the National School of Drama before building a remarkable career in Indian and international cinema. His film credits include Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, The Namesake, A Mighty Heart, The Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic World and Hindi Medium.
He won three Filmfare Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and the Padma Shri — India's fourth highest civilian honour. Director Danny Boyle described him as having an instinctive ability to find the moral centre of any character.
Irrfan Khan passed away in April 2020 after battling a rare neuroendocrine tumour. He is remembered as one of the finest actors India has ever produced and a true ambassador for Asian cinema on the world stage.
